What are Stress Hormones?

Stress hormones are chemicals released by the body in response to stress or danger. These hormones are part of the body's natural "fight or flight" response and help prepare you to deal with challenging situations.

The main stress hormones include:

Adrenaline (Epinephrine): Rapidly released by the adrenal glands, adrenaline increases heart rate, blood pressure, and energy supplies. It makes you alert and ready to act quickly.

Cortisol: Often called the "stress hormone," cortisol is produced by the adrenal glands over a longer period. It helps maintain energy by increasing glucose in the bloodstream, suppresses non-essential functions like digestion and immune responses, and helps the body recover after stress.

In summary Stress hormones are chemicals produced by your body during stressful situations that help you react quickly and effectively. They increase energy, alertness, and physical readiness to handle threats or challenges.
